I'd get the key, but it's rather easy for me to say, because I couldn't care less if I had $10M more -- a position in which not everyone is as fortunate to be.

Because the price of houses in Waffle Land more than makes up for the higher taxes.

'zactly. That and social services.
I'd have to add that I also live in a country where a bank account balance isn't the
only thing that determines one's social status
if one chooses not to let it do so (though many people do). That makes money irrelevant once you have enough of it.
I'm always puzzled by some of US executives - if they have $5M but their buddies have ten times more, they're positively miserable, feel like an earthworm and would do anything (which usually involves Not Having a Life and Not Seeing Your Family at All) to get that extra $45M just to be on par.
Suckers.
Tell a European that golf players in the US are actually ranked by the prize money they amassed during a year and he will look at you slightly puzzled. As Obelix would say, "ils sont fous, ces Romains".

Thought it was always Obelix. Asterix was constantly calling Teutates.
I would take the key-just to get out there. Knowing it was a bureacrat, it was for sure that pushing the button will affect the pusher himself.

Plenty of reasons for grabbing the key. I have a visceral dislike for arrogant bastards who think they've got a handle on me, so I'd be tempted to pick the key just to piss him off,
especially if he starts shouting to press the button.
My parents had it figured out pretty early. They'd order me not to clean up my room and I'd clean it up "just to spite them" (although, to be honest, I was in on the game as well).

And don't even start talking about tango, or take a few drinks.

That's mostly a redo of an old Twilight Zone episode with the added post death salvation vs damnation. Well done though. It would be the key for me. All that dough wouldn't alleviate the guilt of knowing I'm a murderer. I'd rather be po but able to look in the mirror.

Unfortunately, I'm not really sure in which direction the arrow of time is pointing in this country. All I can do is instil some sense in my kids and try to Give a Clue to those around me, but I don't have any illusions about how far my contribution reaches.
