Okay, I know this isn't absinthe-related, but hell with it, I'm going to asky anyway....
What are your favorite orange liquors?
So far, mine are:
For Sipping:
Grand Marnier 100
Grand Marnier
For Mixing:
Contreau (too sweet to sip)
Triple Sec
Haven't Tried:
Grand Marnier 150
Stock Grangala
Grand Marnier Cuvee Louis-Alexandre
Thoughts?
Is the 150 worth the price difference over the 100, for those who have tried them both?

I've still got a 1/4 bottle of the GM 100. It's much smoother and sweeter than the regular GM.
I tried a snifter of the 150 about 2 years ago. It was pretty tasty, but I can't comment on how it compares to the 100.
Don't forget about the blue curacao. Makes your margs look bluey.

Cut-off denim shorts never looked as good as on Daisy Duke. That was a wonderful sight for a pre-teen boy.
Considering that they were good old country boys, it makes you wonder how many times they got her into the back of the General Lee.

Grand Marnier Cuvee Louis-Alexandre.
IMHO, better than the GM100 because there's less added sugar.

I actually picked a bottle of that up on a trip to CanuckyFuckyLand over last new year's eve. It is sitting in my liquor cabinet, unopened. Like the Gentiane, I haven't opened it yet. (Please keep all discussions of how pathetic I am to one consolidated thread.)
I had the GM 100 this weekend. It was good. This weekend was also holiday bonus time. So I was thinking about picking up a bottle. I want to have some nice stuff around for special occasions, and for friends that don't like the anis-based drinks that are taking over the cabinet already.
Do you have any thoughts on the GM 100 vs GM 150?
Thanks for the input.

No,really.Grand Marnier.
Since we are(kinda/sorta)on the subject of liqueurs, does anyone else like
Frangelico?
If you have'nt tried it,it is made from hazelnuts and herbs, and produced
in Italy.Long, long ago it was made by monks.
What is it with monks and liqueur?I think a few monks of old might have been

Good point.
Some of them made cheese, too. At least that involved some of the monks having contact with another living being.
I hear tell those monks were'nt adverse to lifting their robes for each other occasionally,so maybe life offered a little entertainment now and then...
I'm sure the booze helped.

I make my own "Grand Marnier."
Here's a recipe:
- ½ cup orange zest (the more bitter the better, preferably curacao - which you can get from a homebrewing shop)
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 ½ cup brandy
- 1 Tbs. Finishing formula
Mash zest and sugar together until sugar dissolves. Place zest and brandy in aging jar and age for a couple months or a few years. Strain and add finishing formula.
The longer you age it the better it gets.

"Finishing formula" is the final drink required to pretend the person you are having sex with is really worth having sex with, allowing you to finish what your merely half-drunken self had previously not allowed you to.
As shown by Jack's recipe needing only a tablespoon, it is some potent shit.

Well you can get it at a homebrew shop. It's either semen or glycerin. It's not salty and it doesn't louche, so I suspect it's glycerin.

It sort of "thickens" it up causing the cordial to mellow out and seem smoother. Quite a number of commercial liquors contain glycerin. Some may also contain semen.
