Yet another damned blog! The start's not quite right, the end's a bit tacky, but the 2/3 lines right in the middle are almost OK.

Excellent! I especially enjoyed the Cros examination part and the Capote metaphor. The lawn picture is very well picked -- I wasn't expecting it to look so paltry. The tacky, tree-hugging style ending is appropriate and exalting. Bravo.

That's how the yard looked a couple months
after I bought the Mini Mansion. In 03. And after
I cut down the jungle, picked up the 9 40 oz
bottles, the 2 full diapers, the women's purse
and had two truckloads and 85 35 gallon bags
of trash hauled out. Plus, before all the
planting, weeding, hedge trimming,
and of course-lawn mowing.
Here's how it looked this May:

Liver's right.
So I cut the Crosby bit. Shame since it was about the only bit Helfrich liked and I want to keep him happy. Crosby's going to be pissed when he finds I've cut his lines.
To compensate, I've added links to words like hardon, God, Allentown for those who don't understand.
And to the lawn care forum.
Helfrich
Jul 15 2007, 07:47 AM
Those added links are very helpful. I'm moved by the fact that you want to keep me happy. Thank you so much, Moss!
The end is still kind of disturbing, though.

Mystique? Really, Liver.
Interesting blog, Alan.
Clearly you have a finger on the place's pulse.
Truly, there is no way to just walk in and
partake of the very real camaraderie
that has been accumulating itself
over years' kindnesses (small and large).
We've seen each other's scars, some of us.
Made exchanges in the ultimate local currency of "Looking a Fucker in the Eye."
Seen each other through some heavy shit, sometimes. Real shit.
Been sounding boards, proponents,
or just an oasis of consistency in an unpredictable and challenging world.
A person might sense it, sure
— walking into the local bar —
that some of the locals have more common mileage than the pitcher of Pabst between them
or that two guys and a pitcher can sometimes be a reassuring signal
that the world will still be turning tomorrow.
It's personal, though.
It's interpersonal.
It's not for the gawking masses.
Under the surface — you're right — there's a deep well of benevolence, gratitude, and respect.
Welcome.

I meant the interview. I had to look up "blog" recently to find out what it meant. Charlie don't surf. I click on maybe one out of ten links that show up in these forums.
It gives an accurate (afaik) picture of the history of this forum.
It gives an accurate picture of how commercial (and otherwise) absinthe has developed. Or not.
It's entertaining.
The questions were well structured and the responses were clever and creative.
I like pictures of real women.

Peeps, thanks for the welcome.
I think both Liver and I enjoyed the process: I struck lucky with the questions. Liver is a natural (as you all know) and didn't need any prompting.
In all this, it was clear to me that there's a great book (maybe even film) about the Lounge, its place in absinthe, and what it means to you all (I can hardly say "us" yet). Who's going to write it, Liver?
