Damn it is hot here. I jsut finished mowing part of the lawn and setting up the sprinklers to water again.

Third week in a row in the 90s and next week is MOTS. We didn't hit 100, but they did 90 miles west of us (Knoxville).

Yea, I know it is hotter in FL, and TX, etc but this is really unusual weather for us. Normally we only get two weeks of sustained 90s in August and it drops back to the mid 80s by the third week.

Local fauna is not used to this heat and drought (also of record proportions).

I think I'll fix a cappuccino and a glass of cognac for lunch, along with something to eat. Still getting tomatoes from the garden.

Gotta go shopping after lunch.

None of my tomatoes made it. Nor did my pears. The massive squirrel population pillaged. Can't blame 'em. It's fuckin' hot and available food was witherin' on the vine. Plus, the squirrel army can't drive to the super market for eats. Let them enjoy. My cats enjoy chasing 'em.

I canned about 70 pints of tomatoes this year.

As far as pears go my dad tried to raise them for ten years. If the fire blight didn't get the crop the squirrels did. He finally gave up.

Every year I usually have loads of pears, except for this summer. My ex made a delicious pear cordial a couple of years ago. I wanted to attempt it this year.

I got a jar of clear stuff with peaches in it. Does that count?

The peaches were from Newberry county in SC.
