If all is proven as it seems to be, we shall win that battle.
Though, there is still a strong lobby advocating that absinthe can be artificially coloured and is as genuine just as the naturally-coloured one.
QUOTE
absinthe is a distilled product (either through alcohol or steam distillation) which contains anise and wormwood (enough anise to be noticeable as a main characteristic, defining how much wormwood is used is harder and not approached in the article), colored naturally or artificially, bottled with no sugar at a high proof (45% on up), which louches when cold water is added.
Anyways, thanks again Mike-let Florida sun be generous with its rays.

absinthe is a distilled product...
I don't think the debate was about whether or not absinthe can be called such if it's artificially colored. It was more along the lines of what defines naturally or traditionally colored absinthe.

I have quoted the whole for clarity, obviously the most important thing is traditional natural colouring vs artificial colouring.

Actually quite a good description, if the final colouring agent is what I think it is.

Before I go any further in this debate,
do you have a stake in this or are any of your products being produced by this distiller? Do you promote any of the products I may or may not be ready to review in this open discussion?

It is not about taste, but about truth
Stabbed to death, humiliated
There are absinthes alike
and absinthes to the boot
Irrelevancies are delegated
To blur the vision and change unwanted thread
All for money's and profit's sake
Whereas people starve couldn't eat just a lil' bread
But downfall comes and might give some a strong shake
So far, better than I thought, now stop bitchin' about Kirk
Give all artists a break.

isn't marilyn manson an 'artist'?
absinthist
Sep 20 2007, 12:25 AM
A norom, disabled singer and musician, Egon Schiele/Jawlensky clone-painter, collector of Nazi paraphernalia (he is not NS and never has been) and other disgusting things:
http://www.louchedlounge.com/forums/index....st&p=188129 ,poseur, provocateur, low-life scumbag, full of xit, long before absinthe craze, used to sip Green Powerade pretendin' it was absinthe and it really tripped his ballz, then moved towards La Fee-which is just a far approximation of extrait nad become from one day on an ardent worsphipper and user.
Paul Cézanne said once: "An art that is not born with emotion, is not art".
Marylin's "art" is about being trendy only. "Satanism is trendy?-let me go for it! Le canaille will love it!". "Absinthe is trendy?-I have never had it, but if it brings me more fun and money, why not!", "Neonazism is becoming more popular?-I will collect some!".
Art is not about money, profit, false fame, is about absolute freedom, as an artist stands above the world, the man (as in Przybyszewski's works); art is for the art's sake.
Do you know, how many paintings Vincent sold during his life? Only one, but he paid no attention to money-anything he got was spent on canvas, paints, absinthe and coffee. Only that way true art is born-from emotion, joie de vie, from talent-gift given only to a few from above.
pierreverte
Sep 20 2007, 12:58 AM
so, he's not an 'artist' because he's a "...poseur, provocateur, low-life scumbag, full of xit..?"
gee, that sounds like the very definition of many famous artists...
>Paul Cézanne said once: "An art that is not born with emotion, is not art".
cézanne was hated by most people who actually came across him in Aix-en-Provence, and considered a low-life (but the locals have conveniently forgotten that)...van gogh, too, for that matter, who didn't sell his paintings, not because he didn't want to, but because nobody wanted them at the time (too 'trendy' for the tastes of the time)...

Differentiate between "art" and Art. Definitions boil down to whether the artist had CREATED something, not invented/copied/faked in the name of current trend's tendencies.
Neither Paul nor Vincent were too trendy but were great visionaries who presaged cubism and expressionism in the sense we know these both styles today. Rembrandt would also fall too trendy according to your definitions-he died poor and his masterpieces weren't popular at all.
Would you say that Titian, Rubens, Velasquez, Impressionists, Surrealists, Neue Sächlichkeit reps were all poseurs, scumbags?
Are you that mad to compare Great Masters to an idiot who knows next to nothing about painting techniques and wants us to believe that his lavis used on Mansinthe's cover was actually made with absinthe (what from technical point of view is not possible as absinthe contains no binder and alcohol quickens the drying-evaporation occurrs, colour, if any, would be very, very pale)? With his iconoclastic "works" he wants to amuse the masses?
Painter is not made, Monsieur, he is born and if he possesses the talent, it is years until he is half as good as he should be, you cannot learn water-colour ad hoc, because you paid for the so-called 'course', if you do not feel it, you won't embrace it. The canvas is white and innocent like a virgin, the artist's role is to make her come so both parts are satisfied and thus masterpiece is created.
Hence, talent cannot be bought, Marylin can buy the finest quality water-colours (if the tardo only knew that finest are those made from purest pigments, arabic gum and splash of glycerine at home), hang out with trendy "art historians" and "critics"; does it make him an artist-absintheletely not.
