The price has dropped to 18USD per 700ml at 50%, and I am going to buy it soon as in our house there has never been any arak at all.

And the information about it is so contradictory (originally from Lebanon, distilled in Jordan, bottled in Israel, etc), that anyone knowing something fer sure is more than welcome to shed more light.

It's booze...

Monday/Tuesday will post the pics and a review whether it is worth anything.

I'd rather have the Turkish Yenni Raki. I bought another bottle of it today -- the last one in the store.

No Raki available here, and only two ouzo brands (Nostalgia, Magia), that market is evolving very slowly here.

In comparison with anis/pastis, it has two advantages: not beet alcohol base and at 50%, no sugar.

1:2 ratio provides rather quick but pleasantly-looking louche. Neat sniffed is very welcoming as the alcohol reminds of top quality rye. Dilution is not ruining the alcohol, either. Anise is delicate, but evident, marrying well with very nice alcohol bite in the finish.

The taste-it is my first arak, so I cannot compare it with other brands, but as it has been mentioned above-it is better than some pastis/anis, definitely, there is nothing misssing, though the taste is not that complex.

If you happen to find it, try it, very interesting drink that shall tell more stories in the meantime.

And finally, it is not burnt™! If it is aged, I am not that sure, something between 2-4 months, but no longer as the alcohol has not mellowed completely, which, in that case, is very nice, gives more body to that arak.
