Belle Amie again today, and I retract my previous "insight", Dinky...

It's already as good as, or better than L'Artianale, so fuck you, beertender!

I don't see how. Is the color better? Is the louche better? Is the wormwood presence better?

The two categories in which I do think Belle Amie is superior are aroma and balance, but it has neither the richness nor the wormwood profile nor the flavor intensity L'Artisinale had.

If we're going to make it a contest between 1st run batches, I'd have to say L'Artisinale has the edge as it just seems more fully developed than Belle Amie. Belle Amie will probably get there quickly in future revisions, and it's a lovely absinthe as-is, but it has more of a "work in progress" feeling to it than L'Artisinale did. It needs more batches to fully concentrate the aromas, tastes and louche, as is the case with any Absinthe made using the traditional interpretation of the Suisse method. Peter is definitely on the right track with it though, it's the best Absinthe they've made yet.

I'll give credit where credit is due, they've definitely turned the Pernot distillery into a place where good absinthe is made. Doubs Mystique is a good absinthe too, in my opinion that is the absinthe they should try to put on shelves here. It's a better Absinthe than Lucid or Mansinthe (except for weaker louche), and if it passes EU t-jone tests then it shouldn't be a problem here, though perhaps the "mystique" label might have to be changed.

Oh dear. Are we in for another "Absomphe discovers a new absinthe" episode again?

Let's hope that the hyperbole will die a bit sooner than it did during the Verte de Fougerolles episode...

TheGreenOne
The use of an ellipsis at the end of a sentence does not excuse you from the need to end that sentence with a period.

RedBastid
verte fougerolles, belle ami.
just admit he's got good taste!

And he hangs out here?

The important thing is to louche it very slowly, and with really cold water...it's an amazing flavor, but not a very thick louche, so you'll want to squeeze all the mouth-coating goodness you can out of this beuaty by letting the louche develop as deliberately as possible

Reading Absomphe over at H5 is enough to make me kill my computer. On second thought, it's enough to make me kill Absomphe.

It's nice to see that they have proved that a perpetual circle jerk is entirely possible.

Absomphe thought he found the emerald isle of absinthe, but let's not forget that the best-of-the-best was created MANY years ago, and has yet to be beaten as the prize jewel of all commercial absithes out there. I am not talking about Logan Filth (sorry Smutty). It's the one greener than a plate of lettuce on crack, spicier than the chili on top of that salad Wendy's makes with chili on it, Spanishier than Jorge Rodriguez (a friend I have, I think he's Spanish, although he might be Dominican or Puerto Rican, actually, I think he's from Texas, but I digress), the one, the only, NS 55!!

Granted, it might not meet all the expectations of all you out there with a "refined" palate, but don't a glass of NS 55 or Deva bring back the memories of a simpler time, a time before all this whining and moaning about commercial actually matching HG, a time when you were happy waiting 5 weeks for three bottles of absinthe, a time when Smutty's comments about Logan Filth actually made you wonder if you should shell out the $200 for a bottle.

Is Logan Fils still being made?

Has anyone had a bottle recently if it still is??

Finished a 5-year old bottle of Segarra and having a la Muse Verte now. The Segarra was very good. The Muse Verte is shit. I wish I had some NS55 right now...

Welcum back! You and your White Satin Balz™ must've been real busy.
TheGreenOne
Moonman 42. It's not very good, rather thin and astringent. Of the other had, it's still better than some COs.
Off. Jack Batemaster
Speaking of CO Absinthe...I'd rather drink Logan Fils...

Did you hear about the Belle Amie or the Roquette lately?
Get out of your cavern Rupert.
About time.

Yeah, I heard that they're exact reproductions of the original ...

I'm drinking tequila mixed with lemon juice,
I'd drink absinthe but I drank it all,

Fuck it, I need absinthe,

Here's something you might try...
Take the best herbs you can find, and soak them, in appropriate proportions, in a bottle of the US Kübler.
After a few days, drain away the fluid, and place the soaked herbs in a gallon-size ziploc bag. Discard this bag and hope one of your friends sends you some absinthe.

Łącka with Maximus as a chaser. Will the drinkin' ever fade? Tomorrow meetin' with guys from primary school. What is sobriety when it does not even exist?
Off. Jack Batemaster
Exists for me at the moment...cept for that pretend drink I drank with a pretend Abby...at a pretend gay bar...in a fake city...
Louched Liver
I really enjoyed that too.

What a (phaux) Louche Fest!!
