Tom Waits - "Better off without a Wife"

"so this is kinda a little anthem here...
all my friends are married
every Tom and Dick and Harry
you must be strong
if you're to go it alone
here's to the bachelors
and the bowery bums
and those who feel that they're the ones
who are better off without a wife

I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanna and I'm comin' home when I please
don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys

I never been no Valentino
but I had a girl who lived in Reno
left me for a trumpet player
but it didn't get me down
he was wanted for assault
and though he said it weren't his fault
you know the coppers rode him right
out of town

ahh they say I'm kinda selfish about my privacy
well as long as I can be with me
we get along so well I can't even believe it
I love to chew the fat with folks
and listen to all your dirty jokes
I'm so thankful for these friends
I do receive"

Raindog,
Are you a big fan of Tom Waits?
Are you familiar with a TV show called "Fishing with John?"
If so, have you seen the episode with Tom Waits?
It's on DVD, so if you belong to netflix.com, add it to your list and check it out.
Or, look for "Fishing with John" DVD at your local rental place.
If your interested, and can't find it or are to lazy to look, I could divx or vcd the episode and find a way to get it you.
If not, just ignore me, like everyone else.

Buck
Raindog
I'll check it out Bucky.

Rimmy -

Have you heard the soundtrack to "Lost in Translation"? Theres some really top-notch Kevin Shields stuff on it (for those of us, like myself, who are still waiting impatiently for a follow-up to "Loveless").

And as for what's in the changer right friggin' now:

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Kicking Against the Pricks
Placebo - Sleeping with Ghosts
Secret Chiefs 3 - First Grand Constitution & Bylaws
Halou - Sans Soucie
HIM - Deep Shadows & Brilliant Highlights

Glenn Miller — Pennsylvania 6-5000

Good tracks Joalco. Lost in Translation soundtrack is great. Slowdive and Guitar are both decent MBV ripoff bands I listen to when I feel I've worn out Loveless. I'm sure you heard MBV is back in the studio trying to finish Glider (EP that was supposed to be an LP).

My girlfriend just made me listen to Halou last night and they're great.

My iPod on random just went from Ozzys No More Tears to Mogwai's Summer. Talk about fucking random.

Now it just went to Kermits rendition of Rainbow Connection laugher.gif
Aion
Synaesthesia - "Desideratum"
Bohren & Der Club of Gore - "Sunset Mission"
C. Debussy - "La Mer"
Fiona Apple - "Tidal"
Kate Bush - "Lionheart"

I've got the Guitar album as well. It's pretty good. Total MBV ripoff, though. Slowdive is a bit less derivative than Guitar, in my opinion.
