QUOTE
As it turns out, Absinthe was indeed a dangerous substance, as the wormwood used for making it had narcotic properties. The consumption of Absinthe was associated with hallucinations, delirium, madness and even death. It is further rumored that Jack the Ripper, an unknown killer of a number of prostitutes in 1888, went mad through his addiction of Absinthe. Consequently, it was outlawed in the United States in 1912.
History. Right.

Herbsaint, which is produced by a company here in New Orleans
I guess it depends on whether "here in New Orleans" refers to "produced" or "a company"....'cause my bottle says "Frankfort, KY"

"I left mad"
But failed to kill the person who wrote that shit. Finish the job next time.
Herbsaint has been made in Kentucky for a long time now.
Someone posted about that shithole a few weeks back and I had to hold back to avoid saying it would have been better for almost everybody if the hurricane had blown it to Hell.

There'll always be a good place in my memory for that shithole, because it was the first place I ever sat and drank bourbon glass for glass with my dad like an equal. That was a long time ago, before I'd ever tried absinthe.
Sounds like it would just piss me off to go there now.

Looks to me like the cost/benifit analysis indcates one of two apparoaches:
(1) scrap it.
(2) require all buildings to be relocated/rebuilt above sea level.
1 ain't gonna happen.
2 ain't gonna happen.
3 everyone in the us will again get screwed financially by the govt when the next hurricane blows through.

I remember the place from when I was a child. My brother was home on leave from the Army and he took me along with his girlfriend on a ride up and down Bourbon Street in his convertible. Back then you could still drive on the street. Cool looking old building, cool name, thought I. But nostalgia will kill you if you let it. Better to let it burn then let it fade away in a smog of bullshit.
