What is it with the goddam cars? What do cars have to do with anything?
Presumably Oxy is saying someone who knows (or thinks he knows) something about cars on a small scale can't presume to offer advice to someone building cars on a "real" scale.
Most importantly, I didn't offer any advice.
But it occurs to me that when any given producer proves he can make good absinthe on ANY scale, then and only then can he offer the "it's so difficult to scale up" defense for sad absinthe.
