pierreverte

I am not a problem, I am a solution.

I just brewed a batch of beer at a CO brewery yesterday,
my recipe, their equipment.
I brought some HG beer along, we tasted them and some of their beers afterwards, talked about techniques, ingredients and processes.
Quite an enjoyable day.
absinthist
Thass the right direction, buddy. Step-by-step to achieve a mutual understanding in the end.

I think there needs to be a separation in the "Co" definition.

There's the big bad evil CO pumping out thousands of liters of mediocre to crap quality absinthe, all the while touting it's authenticity and how good it is. They've probably spend more money on marketing than research. As a result the chances of ever seeing a really good product from them are minimal. They're in it for the money.

Then there's the underdog passionate CO trying to make an authentic product. They don't have the resources to create an absinthe pipeline, but every bottle that's filled is a piece of them. It's their passion and reputation inside. They are as concerned with quality as they are bottom line. They're involved with every step of production, if not the only employee. These are where the decent absinthes are coming from, and more than likely always will be.

I respect you for that. At least you're honest.

Good point Dinky, As with any art/craft, you either add something to it or you detract.

absinthist
Well said, Dinky, you have just defined "profiteers"™ and "CO's with HG hearts" or "passionates", chapeaux bas!

If you can't say anything nice...blah blah blah and all that.
TheScrin
I'm HG, but soon to be CO. I won't make any money out of it apart from pennies, but I am going to be making the CO with just as much care and patience as my HG stuff.

Some people are in it for the cash(Pernod Ricard, Sebor, other Czeckerland shit, etc). Some people like Ted, Oxy, Hiram, are actually into this for their love of Absinthe and I am sure they are tryin to provide the best Absinthes that they can with the resources they have.

Not all CO's are evil money hungry bastards.

If there wasn't a buck in it they would be doing something else. That actually doesn't really apply to the last one, he's still tryin' to figure out how to be a playa.

I like CG and I like HO. Why are they vs. each other? In the words of the all-wise Rodney King, can't we all just get along?
Wild Bill Turkey
Ha!
Ever notice how the whole absinthe communty just kind of fell apart after CG left? Coincidence? There's no telling which Jenga piece will cause the whole fuckin thing to collapse.

He really isn't, I can vouch for that. His place is twice as big as mine and I live in a cardboard box with just enough room for myself and 3 bottles of absinthe.
Helfrich
Um, yes. I need to stock up more bottles and my belly is bigger than yours.
absinthist
Fatmen rule! Or not™.
Helfrich
I'm not fat, Tits. My belly is just bigger than Barski's.

How can this HG versus CO debate be so dreadfully boring and hilariously entertaining at the same time? It makes me feel like I've discovered a gawdamn brand new emotion.
pierreverte
um...no
Helfrich
Okay, so you've entered a denial phase, Pierre. Actually I think this so-called debate is utterly annoying. That's cool with me.
