Grey goose is $8.10 off this week, for a 750ml.
I bought 48 bottles, but not one of them came with martini glasses.
The chambord, grand marnier and bacardi this week all came with promo glassware. You gotta love the holidays.

i made my weekly stop there last night. yeah, i hope some of those goose martini sets are left after xmas. due to the xmas fundage crisis, i had to buy only what i really needed - just enough to feed my addiction a little longer.
i'm sure i'll end up there tuesday, but probably for just more whiskey.
ho ho ho...and i got a bottle of rum.
can't have xmas without egg nog. and i'm not wasting my turkey this time... :)

I make badass eggnog. I use my evil uncle's recipe, so I have to cut out part of the booze to make it drinkable. It takes hours to make and it has to sit a day, but it's well worth the trouble. That stuff from the store tastes funny.

I like my eggnog straight, but a little likker to add more spice is ok.
Alta Dena dairy makes a good, all natural, light eggnog. Some of those store brands
are as thick as cream, and they do taste funny.
I like Bailey's as a holiday drink.

Wierd. I thought I said something different. Either I have a ghost editor or this high-test coffee's going straight to my head.

Those gift sets are great! Booze, appropriate glassware for all your kin that aren't as glassware-saavy as you are, and often, a cutesy piece of paraphenalia. Gift, match-set-point.

for years i have been making my own egg nog.
i use the cooking method in Joy of Cooking to make sure uncle Sammy doesn't visit.
this year i will only be adding dark rum.
in the past i used an old bartending book version with bourbon, dark rum & cognac. i was the only one who would drink it.
"it's too strong!" no, you are a pansy ass.

'Joy of Cooking'- GREAT book.
I use Christian Bros VSOP in mine. Comes out pretty tasty. I agree with you on the strength. Anytime my family says 'it's too strong!' I just think 'no Mom, you're a wimp.'

My wife makes egg nog, but uses a whipped cream topping. However, adding brandy really cuts the sweetness factor down considerably.

CG, which dark rum do you use? Dark rum sounds like a good idea, and I'd like to give it a whirl this year. Myers?

Back in my college days, I had THE dream job in paradise: clerk at a fancy-pants wine/liquor store. The perks were too numerous to count: all the booze I could drink at cost, a beer and a shot (or two or three) when my shift was done, wine tastings on Friday night (my boss said to me one time "one of the most important things in thise job is the ability to do it drunk"), and promo tastings from the wine reps. I had things I never would have ever been able to afford otherwise.
Christmas really was Crhistmas: after the season was over, we unpacked all of those gist sets, put the bottles on shelf, and the glassware was up for grabs. I used to have all the bar ware I could ever need courtesy of the producers.
All of it is now long since broken.

i've used myers, appleton estates, and even capt. morgan spiced.
this year i bought bacardi. i bought a bottle 2 weeks ago to make hot toddys & hot buttered rum. i tried it in some store bought nog, and decided it would work for my nog.
if sheepy & lammy come, maybe i'll make an additional batch w/ turkey.

Capt. Morgan is getting higher and higher on my liquor list. I find that every year, I like it more then I did the previous one. I started buying it years ago because ALL of my friends drank it, so I kept it stocked in my bar just for them. Then, I ran out of bourbon and tequila one day, and was craving booze, so I broke it out. Ever since, I've gotten to like it more and more.
Myers Dark is just plain awesome. Nothing better in a pina colada.

I bought that very same Strega pack myself last week. I also picked up:
Grand Marnier 100th Anniversary
some Calvados (forgot the brand off the top of my head)
citrus Stoli
bottle of red wine (for cooking, not drinking)
and something else that I forget at the moment
Is it a bad sign that I can't remember what I bought?
