I just realized that, despite all of the post-traumatic stress of last week's abortive meeting of the NYC Tri-Boro LouchedLounge Posse, I failed to write up a trip report. Hopelessly bad form on my part.
Here's what we had:
A Variety Gift Sampler from the Swiss Absinthe Ninja, containing
a truly outstanding Lyonaise
an even more outstanding verte bearing the mysterious title 'PW'
two versions of this maker's excellent Madiswill blanche (#6 & #12)
and another interesting little blanche titled 'Winter Warmer :)'
(Special thanks and all due props to the Ninja in question)
In addition, the other bottles on the counter included
Nemesinthe #5, #6, and #8
Absinthe Authentique #24
Felix Blanche
Swizzle Prototype and Final Version
Fougerolle 72
Un Emile 68
I won't bore you all with reviews of each one, nor do I remember enough of what I drank to provide decent accounts. But I felt like a table-top recital of what all was there was in order. Myself, Lambchop, Porkio, and Bumpferret took part in the proceedings. Louched Liver and Rimbaud were in absentia.

And by the way,
the Swiss Absinthe Ninja's Lyonaise rocks my world.

Yeah, that and the mysterious 'PW' were definitely the stars of the show.

Unfortunately, the people with the cameras were the ones that didn't make it. The only pictures are the ones in my mind.

Yeah, none of 'em turned out. Some of 'em, the contrast was all off. Some of 'em were out of focus. Some of 'em I can't quite figure out what I was thinking.
That's the way it goes sometimes.

So if you could only pick one, which would it be? LCLF or LF04? I gotta make plans.

LF04 is up in the air at the moment. LCLF might be LF04.

Dec 23 2003, 11:31 PM
Huh?
LCLF or LF04?
Since LCLF'04 seems to be VERY central for a lot of folk I've never met, and LF'04 is just a wish and a dream.... I'd plan for Seattle's very own LCLF'04!

Dec 23 2003, 11:57 PM
Fuck you doubters.
Gimme a couple days to wrest the
Mini Mansion from the ruins.
If you think LCLF is gonna match
even LF03, then you are just silly.

And who says ya gotta go to just one of the fuckin' things?
They're 3 months apart.
And who says I won't be having one here in Absinthetown if
I have to sell the house?
There's a good chance I may be living in NYC in July if I do sell.
The chance there won't be an LF04 is very slim.

Well, that answers that.

I am a bit upset you'd disparage LCLF so easily. So what will make LCLF inferior to LF'03?

Yes you are. But since you'll be at both, they will both have the potential of greatness.
LCLF'04 also has the potential of bringing in some heavy absinthe hitters other than myself, yourself, and the leave-you-stranded-in-NYC crew.

Just north of Seattle.

Thanks for the general directions, gasspectro.I will be sure to follow them.
Does anyone care to divulge the specific location of LCLF'04,or in which section of
this forum such information is already provided?

Dec 28 2003, 05:55 PM
The EXACT location will be posted soon enough. Just suffice to say it will be in the suburb of Seattle known as "Lynnwood" about ten minutes north of Seattle on I-5. Hopefully soon I will be posting some links, or phone numbers to local hotel/motels within a short drive of the festivities location. The location will provide an ample amount of staggering room, places to pull up a piece of carpet to crash if you don't want to drive, and large outside firepit to make offerings to the Gods of Absinthe. For dinner just BBQ burgers, hotdogs, etc. We plan on putting on a large spread of pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs for breakfast the next morning for those who crash the night.

Sounds good,gasspectro.Thanks for the info.
Sorry to be a pest, but I need to know in order to budget for the shennanegans.
Will renting a motel be necessary,or will private lodging also be available? If not,I will have to go for something along the lines of Motel 6,and preferably share the costs with a roommate.
I hope there will be absinthe, too.We can always buy a kit and make our own.
