I find the idea of my head
being filled with boxes
paradoxically
stimulating.
absinthist
The truth is out there.
Bognoz
I'm all about getting in
to that empty box.
Crosby
No box left unfilled.
Louched Liver
Well, we try anyway.
Kirk
My latest obsession is a box, around 9"x14", dove tailed sides with jointed top and bottom, 3 different dove tailed trays that fit inside and a collet tray.
I made an automatic silver and ivory spring loaded latch that keeps it closed.
So far, I put around 100 hours of work into it and still can't get it out of my one box brain. It holds doo dads for my watch lathe.

Photo, please.
Kirk
I can't find my usb thing for my camera, but I'll post it later.
Louched Liver
Just the pieces,
when I saw them
all raw and scattered
looked quite nice.
TheGreenOne
Spend long enough in Florida you get used to seeing pieces all raw and scattered.
TheGreenOne
Spend too long and you think they look quite nice.
Louched Liver
I'm outtah here...
TheGreenOne
You just got back.
Louched Liver
Which made me realize...
Louched Liver
...I'm outtah here.

At least mentally.
Louched Liver
It's much easier to
live here w/out
having to work and
interact w/the locals.
Louched Liver
I'm more of a semi-
permanent tourist now.
Kirk
I'm a short drive away, come on up, I need someone to yack attack.

Boxes

Inside a box
Kirk
Surrounded by boxes
Kirk
With an Ivory latch.
The green stuff around the tiger eye knob is a wax model for a silver bezel (made it on my lathe)
Kirk
Almost done
Kirk
I salvaged the side handles from a rusty 19th century cash box.
Kirk
Here's my lathe on an average day (today)
Kirk
Most of the collets are 100 plus years old, I've been collecting them for 25 years, I'm missing one, gives me reason to wake up every day. It takes over 80 collets to cover the sizes one tenth to eight millimeters, in tenth and half tenth sizes. Good collets are ground and polished to zero tolerance after hardening and tempering rather than before. The collets are held in the lathe head or tail stock, they clamp down on round (or other) stock for turning
Kirk
Ohh
Kirk
That's big
and beautiful, innit?
Kirk
Lid snaps shut like a Rolls Royce door, I made the mechanism from an old typewriter wire that I took apart for pressing. The Ivory is bulged out 3 dimensional like but you can't really see it.
Louched Liver
Damn.

Looks a lil' diffy
now.
Absinthe_1900
Beautiful!

Superb!
I love the latch.
And the handles look perfectly incrusted in the box sides.
absinthist
Excellent work of Art, Kirkenstein and so practical!
Louched Liver
Art and practical?
Louched Liver
Like Crocs xoes?
G&C
Kirk.

I like your box!
elfnmagik
Very nice Kirk.

Ever given any thought about making a humidor?
mthuilli
You dry?
greeneyes
I have a thing for boxes.
I love a good box.
I hoard them.
TheGreenOne
Box porn beats vinyl porn every time.

I have a thing for boxes.

Especially ones with nicely looking dovetail joints?

Box porn beats vinyl porn every time.

Can't beat
bareback.
Bognoz
Socky, with yr help I'm managing
to keep it down to moist.
Bognoz
Sorry, not down yet.
Nor done.
Bognoz
Yup,
I'm wet.
Bognoz
Kirk, it looks so tactile,
cd I caress yr box?
greeneyes
Those are a plus, Six.
Boxes inside of boxes, though, oh my!
That appeals mightily to the anal retentive in me.
Louched Liver
You'd think this office
would be tidier.

Yeah, but I don't smoke cigars and I don't really speculate on what would sell, you want one?
100 + hours of labor is a little steep for a fancy TupperWare.
It's a little steep for a tool box too, but what the hell, obsession is a terrible thing.
