Absinthe

Tasting Notes: Obsello Absenta is an authentic, distilled absinthe, produced at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains of Northern Spain. The signature absinthe is distilled, not mixed, from 8 independently-selected herbs and "eau de vie" (young brandy), produced from the famous Penedes wine stock. The absinthe is crafted in small, single batches, using traditional copper alembic stills. Due the historically accurate production process, Obsello is able to offer a complex absinthe, with a respectable amount of thujone. The product is made using only whole herbs and contains no artificial flavoring, or coloring agents. The delicate absinthe is packaged to survive the test of time. It comes in a UV resistant bottle to protect the natural color from the hazards posed by sunlight. To prevent the contents from oxidizing, the bottles are individually sealed in molten wax. The recipe has been refined for the modern palate, without compromising the traditional nature of fine absinthe. Therefore no sugar, artificial flavoring, artificial colors, plant oils, or herbal essences have been added to the spirit.

TheGreenOne
Not 'spensive 'nuf to be real absinthe.

Dr Hamster scored it highly
Crosby
Yeah, well, he also said this about Jade NO:

QUOTE
All in all, this is one masterpiece, perfectly crafted, beautiful bottle and labelling, wonderful color, perfect louche and -- this far -- unbeatable taste.
Kirk
I got the first bottle of Jade N.O. that arrived in the United States, it had a taste of what was old New Orleans combined with a harbinger of the taste of the future (now past) New Orleans.
DrinkSlinger
Hmmm, I have to agree with that description.
absinthist
Yup, beautifully stolen perfectly reproduced vintage label:

The Yochim N.O. label is very interesting; was it an absinthe substitute also? I didn't find anything with google.

The Obsello is actually not bad. A friend sent me samples of two prototypes and the final version. Much better than any other Spanish absenta, but I wish the ABV was higher than 50%.
Absinthe_1900
All three were New Orleans made absinthe substitutes, Yochim went back several years before prohibition like Jung & Wulff.

Only Legendre survived out of the seven different brands I've been looking into. (Sazerac owns the Jung & Wulff name as well as Legendre)

A couple of early HG bottles, where you could get your "prescription filled" during prohibition.

We've had some of that Obsello xit in Boveresse, man that was really good (4th version I think), way too minty.
absinthespoon
Yeah maybe too minty, but you have to compare it with other Spanish xit, all of which have way worse flaws.
Rho
I thought that was what made Spanish absinthe absenta, the mint. I believe the only Spanish absinthe I've had was Deva, but from what I remember it had mint.

Just a moldy oldy.

I lead with creepy
and follow with sleepy,
it's the only thing that makes me tolerable,
want to take a nap?
A.B. Normal
Last time I tried to sleep near you,
I woke up with your hand on my ass,
and I almost poked out your eyes.

I'll remain upright and alert, thanks.
Kirk
Yeah, that reminds me, stay awake
damnit!
Crosby
I'd think Kirk's hand on your ass is nothing compared to sharing a room with the Liver.
Justin
And although she thought about poking out his eyes, she didn't say anything about removing his hand from her ass.
A.B. Normal
He's a master craftsman.
I thought he might be able to fix it.
Bognoz
Hmm, ass problems, huh?
I'm no expert but if I make it
to a LF remind me and I'll
be sure to take a poke at it.
Justin
Too easy.

Your comment, not the ass in question.

At least, as far as I know.
Bognoz
Too easy? I was
trying to make it
harder, butt
I wound up wet.
