That one is made by a Dutch writer and a Dutch publisher. Actually, they're full of shit with their "only genuine distillery in the Netherlands" and their high-tech column still, but what they produce generally isn't half bad indeed.

A glass of Trilium and a glass and a half of Mata Hari (US version) compliments of a friend. The Trilium was pretty o.k. The Mata Hari...well....ehh.

Hey, a friend sent me a whole bunch of samples of stuff that I haven't tried yet. I just appreciate the kindness and am looking forward to sampling all of them. I just started with these two. The Trilium was pretty good for an anise bomb. I'm not too partial to the especially anise-y absinthes, I'm more of a wormwood coont, but this one was good. The Mata Hari was o.k. Kind of candy like and astringent. I think those are the describing words for those tastes. Anyway, I just wanted to add my two cents to this thread since I haven't been posting much lately.

The name should appeal to Komrade Puller, and this strong Oud Bruin/Kriekbier might even get one and a half thumbs up from Bater.

Yesterday I injected the followin' into my veins: dereniówka, vintage rye vodka, przepalanka, vdt'2008, piołunówka, arak, HG from US, Boggy pastis, the other (not Polish) przepalanka, d'Artiste, Belle Amie, another HG from US (delicious stuff, thanks Christ!), Roquette and PF1901 (considering only its alcohol level, the rest in it is too blunt to be called extrait).
Morning has cum, wakin' up and gettin' ready fer the next.

Battle of the Saints tonite. St. George vs. St. Antoine. I'd have to say St. George wins hands down. The St. A was very dark, brownish color and had no louche. Very astringent and sharp. Lingering effects. The St. G was smooth. Great louche. Creamier mouthfeel and a softer palate slap. A little sweeter. I must say that after one glass and then on to the second I can stomach anything. So if something makes it past the one glass then it is a little o.k. to say the least. Both made it past the first glass. I had two glasses of each and I would have to say that the St. G won easily. Thanks to the contributor again.

How patriotic of ya. Ya are de Class!
Mebbe ya will wait till Martin launches his second batch? Although he has taken our advice and critique, ya will bash him anyhow-new kewl xite to do. At least he is goin' in the right direction and after all makes a slivovitz that is better than 90% of the third class, better than 50% of the second class and aspirin' to be even betterer. Hopefully he will bring us a decent absinthe from Czeckerland Rep. Why not give him some time and encouragement?
Xould I remind ya bout your praise and admiration fer Kyle Bairnsfather that has faded since ya wanted to be kewl as others?

There is plums season and slivovitz is our main product. So we are currently picking the plums and williams pears. Good news is that I finally received high quality A. absinthium and A. pontica from abroad ! So all herbs are now prepared for a new batch. I believe that we start in production in next 14 days.

Well, I don't know anything about all this behind the scenes or even the in front of the curtain stuff going on because I don't PTFA enough. I don't who makes either of the Saints so I'm not bashing anybody and their attempts at making absinthe. I just know what I like and what I like less. So I'll just say that any attempt is better than none if that is your dream and keep up the good work all you absinthe makers out there because the attempts and competition will keep the market flowing towards a better glass of absinthe. Cheers.
