So...

Simply put, the media made me do it.

A couple of weeks ago I opened my local paper only to see a big article on Absinthe.

"What is this Absinthe you speak of?" I asked the demon... my only response was a rumbling laugh.

Absinthe now legal in the US. Hmmmm. Ok.

A trip to my local pharmacy (aka liquor store) to buy some cheap bourbon produced another surprise.

KUBLER.

1 Liter.

$50.00.

...

...

...

... shit.

I always liked Kubler... after they took care of the 'burnt' taste. Flashback to 2003...

"Dan, you wanna go 50/50 on a bottle? I'll pitch in $75.00 and you pitch in $75.00... "

The demon laughs again.

Now the bottle is in my possession... and it is good. So says the lord.

:)

Seriously though.... whod'a thunk it? Absinthe back in the US after a... what.. 100 year hiatus?

Nice.

So despite my crazy schedule, despite my poor finances... I can drink it again.

The pictures show my bottles of HG that I regard as 'prized possessions' ...only onacause they were and still are.

Artisan products I call them. Three years aged and marvelous!

So here I am... just once in a while though.

Life is great - life sucks.

My daughter is my light - politics is my night.

Salut.

I dunno bout all that other stuff,
but the light around yr head,
looks like yr being visited by an angel.
DrinkSlinger
Yep.
The whole legalization thing is what we wished and prayed for. Now we just bitch about the shitty quality (of course 6 years ago kubler was fetching $200 from betty).

I'm glad I can drop by the state run store and pick up a mediocre bottle of absinthe WHENEVER I WANT for under $100... but I'll be happier when I can choose a truly great absinthe from the same shelf.
jaded prol
In a couple more years there will be much more to choose from on the market with really good stuff sharing the shelves with xite.
TheGreenOne
I'm sorta hoping there will be quality absinthe on the shelf by the end of the year.
jaded prol
It's looking that way.
Bognoz
This is the closest it's come
to a good a reason
for moving back stateside.
jaded prol
I wouldn't if I wuz you.

Bognoz
Can't. Ain't even
in the cards.
Bognoz
The difference in what'll be
on yr shelves for the holidays
and mine is really sad, though.
Kirk
I hear the really good stuff is made in the US, we'll have to put together a care package for you when things hit the market, or maybe you can import some off the internet.
Le Gimp
Like someone said on another forum and got squamished,

"I'll believe it when I see it."

Until there are products on the shelves, everything is speculation.
gasspectro
Prezactly. However, there are some who are working tirelessly to bring a decent absinthe to market. I'm not gonna mention any names...
Le Gimp
Some I have more faith in than others.

Until there is absinthe on the shelves, everything is mislabelled.

The waiting is usually
the hardest part.

I couldn't have said it betterer.
Digits, what you have on your shoulders is nicer than any Co or HG.
TheGreenOne
