...and what have you done to yourself?
Inspired by Porkpie's punk-rock GF and the good old days.
What have I got left?
Nose ring.
Tongue stud.
Seven earrings.
Three tattoos.
That's it. That's all there is.

I presume the screwdriver thorugh the hand and other such incidents didn't count as piercings.

Most of the piercings are gone (down from 14 to 3).
I still have a loop in the end of my tongue, one in my left nipple, and a 2 gauge Prince Albert.
Tattoos, on the other hand, I still got.
The kanji for "shadow" on my upper left arm, an ascending angel holding up the sun on my upper right, Gaiman's Sandman (from Ramadan) on my left tricep, Gaiman's Death (Moebius rendition) on my right tricep, a crescent moon on my right forearm, the Magician from the AE Waite tarot on my left forearm, the eye of Horus on my right ankle, a green fairy perched atop a reservoir glass that takes up my whole left calf (8 hours), and a crimson & black tribal phoenix that takes up most of my back (approx 8 hours -- straight).

No piercings or tattoos here.
I have no moral objection to them, and have no problem with them on other people. With regard to tattoos, I just don't have any desire to permanently write or draw anything on myself. Not big into jewelry or adornment, so haven't done the piercing thing. I've seen some of each that I think are cool, and some of each that I think are major turn-offs.
Each to his or her own.

I'm a rebel, I'm counter culture, I'm different... I have no piercings and no tattoos. Not many of us left.
I came
really close to getting my fraternity letters tattooed upon my upper arm like everyone else. Thank god I got sidetracked that night, or I'd be forever relegated to wearing long sleeve shirts.
The girl I'm currently hanging out with has some serious piercings, in some serious places

She's also got this HUGE HONKING tatto of an ankh on her chest. It goes from 4" below her throat to about 3" above her navel. Fucking thing freaks me out. It ruins the female lines and distorts the aesthetic beauty. She's currently saving for a tree tat' that goes from mid calf to the back of her neck... I could get into the whole psychological spiel about attempting to hide beauty & femininity behind the facade of a non-sexual, non gendering, pleasing piece of artwork, but why bother

Ditto with that. I got my left ear pierced when I was 14 (shots of vodka, sewing needle, rubbing alcohol, potato) and that was the end of it. I haven't worn anything in that hole for 5 or 6 years at least, but the last time I checked it was still there.
Truth be told, I never really understood the whole body-manipulation thing. I read in the newspaper recently that an estimated 30% of college-aged female navels are pierced. If everybody else is doing it, what's the point?
I can kinda understand tats, but only some people can pull them off. Tatoos are sort of like leather pants or cowboy hats: if you're the right kind of person, they can be attractive, but if you're not, they just make you look stooooopid.

yeah, i pierced my ear in the 7th grade. there were only a few of us (in my school) then.
got my first tattoo the month after HS graduation. somehow i didn't realize a yin-yang wasn't exactly an original idea although i had never seen one tattooed on anyone. this was before the body mod boom. now you can't throw a tic-tac into a crowded room without hitting someone with a yin-yang tattoo.
actually i don't regret that tattoo, just regret getting it from a scumbag doing bong hits in a dirty-ass basement of a friend of a friend.

I had my ear pierced almost 25 years ago, and still wear an earring, (but then I'm in a creative profession so I have a lot of latitude with what I can do, and how I can dress).
I think it will be interesting when a lot of people with tattoos get significantly older, and are spending their elder years in the old folks home.
It would make for some fascinating photos.
