If you've still got Lemercier *and* F. Guy, try to mix them 50/50 -- I'm starting to like that better than my UE68 Blanche

Hmm.. too late.. what I had left of both of them ended up.. well, let's just say I still have the empty bottles. post-6-1069831687.gif

While I agree that Ulex is pretty bad, I think Huguet is much worse.

That's without Hill's or the Mexican Sebor taken into consideration

I think it's Si- bor. arcadeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.gif

I have to say Sebor is pretty horrible ... only tried half a glass and dumped the rest. That's pretty bad. Not many absinthes I'll do that too ... hell, I even kept the Ulex around to get hammered on.

If you ever get close to these parts, I'll let you taste some Staro (regular and Red) and some Hill's.

Then I'm definitely not in the club yet. The "worst" one I've tasted so far is the Francois Guy I was given as a present. It isn't horrible, but not as good as some of the few others I've had. LdF has spoiled the hell out of me.

*Worst*? *François Guy*?

Did I mention it's still 50% of my favourite commercial concoction (together with 50% of Abisinthe Lemercier), *over* UE68 Blanche (which has quite an aggressive alcohol bite)[1]?

For as long as it lasts, though...

Well, that and Segarra, but Segarra's one of a kind.

So -- for all of you who've "missed out" on *real* Czeckerland swill (and not the almost palatable Sebor, sissies), I'll gladly share Some of The Worst for a sample of, say, Félix yes1.gif (which should be called "Allaseon" in Quenya, for some gratuituous thread crosspollination).

Unfortunately, I haven't got the worst of the worst rip-offs (Logan Fils and Absinthe King).

[1] Funnily, FG and AB72 *on their own* I liked a lot less than UE68...but FG makes AB72 decidely less bland and makes it a lot more mellow. Strangely, AB72 benefits more from this adulteration than UE68.

Nope. I've heard of "Infinite Jest", but haven't read it.

I'm not a puppet for him: despite all appearances, I'm not really feeling "adrift" (it's the rest of the world that keeps floating by).

"An ambitious undertaking, my friend"[1].

Just to emphasize the point...

Apocryphically attributed to Charles de Gaulle in conversation with Pompidou after someone shouted "Mort aux cons!" ("Death to the arseholes!") in '68, presumably to the pair of them.

Despite the paragraph splits and all?

Anything in particular you want to complain about (apart from the complex sentences and wierd vocabulary)?

If my grammar is incorrect, feel free to bondage.sml lash out at me.

My posts[1] don't usually NONO.gif contain {excess} amounts of [brackets()] and

[1]footnotes. His {english} transamalator must be used for translating[2]

I can read it¹

¹ But I read lots of words and am used to it. Where IS Buck, anyway?

(Six - To footnote more cleanly, use the alt+0185 footnote function for ¹. alt+0178 for ², and alt+0179 for ³. Then you can have nice little footnotes without [ and ]).

Feel lucky I'm not currently an APL or Lisp programmer.

OK -- I get the point; I'll try to reduce the number of parentheses -- but not the footnotes: without them, one of my sentences could be coming straight out of "De Bello Gallico", and would be just as "easy" to follow.

How 'bout we just skip the footnotes all together?

I've got a reputation¹ to defend, Sir.

¹as Master of the Sidetrack. *I* have more fun with the sidetracks than the main point. Of course, I could just impersonate Umberto Eco and write the sidetracks in the main text, indented and italicized. Would that be better DG.gif ?

Agreed. Weird vocabulary fine.

Complex sentence structure. Maybe.

Elf languages, footnotes, excessive brackets, long quotes. Painful.

Are you impying Buck's posts are better flame fodder than mine, i.e., that I'm not a suitable ersatz; that I'm somehow not verbose enough, despite all the Elvish stuff and footnotes that are obvious flame bait?

Them's fighting words.

Nothing of the sort. Your post are WAY too short to fall into the novella class that Buck is famous for.

That being said, yes ... the other stuff makes for great flame bait. flamethrower.gif

Anybody who has ever been to college knows that you don't have to read the footnotes anyway. They are strictly optional. We should all be grateful to sixer for sequestering the crux of his point as much as he does. Imagination if you actually had to read all of those digressions...

Opinions seem to be divided on the subject (at least der Cros theorized that Buck had moved to Belgium).

I assume you haven't read the UE Blanche thread by Fingolfin?
