I don't know if this will change your perspective at all but, if all things go according to plan, I will soon be working for the Executive Branch of the US Government.
This is not to say that I am personally an ardent supporter of the current regime. But I will soon be one face of American Democracy Abroad.

Yeah, we're working on the majority thing. Anyone who cares to recall might remember that our current Fearless Leader actually lost the last time around. 'Regime change starts at home', and all that.
Unfortunately, the bigger part of the Executive Branch (i.e. career folks) are at the mercy of the littler part (i.e. political appointments. Wide swathes of the government really want to do the right thing but find their hands tied by bronco busters from Texas. Perhaps we can change that soon.
