Just watched The Eye. Asian horror where this girl gets cornea transplants and starts seeing shit that the donor of the corneas saw before they died. Fucking awesome very very scary movie. As good as The Ring.
Also picked up the Michel Gondry music video collection DVD. The David Cross poop sketch alone makes it worth the measly $20.
Now back to the glass of Swizzle Blanche. Man that's some good sheeeit.

Good call on "The Eye." The scene in the elevator gives me a chill every time I see it. From what I hear, Tom Cruise's production company is Americanizing this one a la "The Ring." I guess Hollywood still thinks that moviegoers won't read subtitles. The original version has played theatrically here in Austin on three separate runs, and the turnout was fairly good. My DVD (picked up on the cheap off of eBay) has great picture and sound quality, but it was cool to see it on the big screen.
I just picked up "Tenacious D - The Complete Masterworks" and "David Cross - Let America Smile" (part of which was filmed at a show I attended). Looks like I'm on the comedy trail tonight.
Halloween's viewing was a Romero roundup - Night of the Living Dead, followed by Dawn and then Day. Followed it up the next day with 28 Days Later, which I really enjoyed.

28 days later is my favourite zombie movie. Makes sense they shot it in DV, the sharp edges really add to the harshness of it.
I actually think the American remake of the Ring was very good. The added bit w/ the horses was a nice touch, it's pacing is IMO much better than the original, and certain parts are scarier and the sound job is exponentially better. However, I believe Samara is much scarier in Ringu, and when she comes out of the TV it feels much more claustrophobic than the American one, though that scene in the American one is still scarier than fuck.
If you're a fan of Asian horror I highly recommend Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Seance. That movie freaked me out! His other one, Cure, about this guy who hypnotizes people into committing grizly murders is also very good.

I quite enjoyed the "Ring" remake myself, although like you, I found Sadako to be much more frightening than Samara. I thought the additions to the story (both original and pieces from Ring 2) were nice. Can't wait to check out Dark Horse's release of the manga.
I haven't seen "Seance" or "Cure", although I've heard good things about both of them. I just saw "Kairo" for the second time - loved that one. Other recent viewings included "Dark Water," "Uzumaki," and "Junk."

Hollow Weener I worked and ogled the waitstaff who took the
opportunity to dress, basically, as sluts.
Then went to a party where you had to dress as a song title.
I was "Take the Skinheads Bowling".
Lame party until I showed the chick dressed as the "Theme
From Cops" my expertise w/handcuffs. And demonstrated how it would be
better, especially when dancing, if women had their tits on their
backs. Then her dude got antsy.
And during this, me and the gay couple traded jokes.
Not to mention the brownies that looked like cat turds in a litter box
and a guy in a wheelchair so obnoxious you wanted to punch him.
And then the crackhead break-in next door.
Oh! You had time to watch a movie?
Sorry.
Very sorry.

As a mater of fact, I TiVoed it a few weeks ago. I like to watch Dr. Strangelove once every couple of years.
