Finally got 'em from Xu-Xu. They have to go to Sixers for approval. Sorry folks, but a little delay is better than annoying a new friend, in my book. Pics soon, I promise.

At the same time, I can't wait to see. I have this image of Sixer in my head and I desperately want to see how close (or far away) I am from reality.

First pic: the raiding party (Belgian waffle penguin with two American allies. Xu-xu on the left, Peepers on the right).

The beer glass gives the location away ("from the Land of Bogs" pub in Mountain View -- not very from the Land of Bogs, but they do have draught Guiness).

Fortunately, you can't see what I've been eating, or lambchop would get angry at me.

The brown bag is a cunningly disguised carrier pigeon....

Peepers was complaining that there were too many pictures of her, but that's because she couldn't figure out the digital camera most of the time [Xu-Xu owned the camera, and as a techno-geek, I can't resist fondling anything that has buttons on it].

This picture (and another one of Xu-Xu further down) are proof that she can operate the camera. When she really wants to. Even though she's a different kind of geek .

The careful observer will have noticed that by this time, we've moved to the Tied House, a microbrewery-cum-bar in Mountain View - at a table in full view of the brewhouse¹. Unfortunately, I'm driving (and jet-lagged), so I'm just having a coffee.

¹Can't resist a footnote. In a conversation with the mayor, I incorrectly used the term "stills" when talking about the kettles.

Peepers apparently planning something cunning and fiendish with the Mayor on the phone.

Of course, Xu-Xu and I are just staring at her during the entire conversation, because of the changing facial expressions, and the fact most things are totally lost on us. At least *we*'re not giggling. But it irritates her a lot.

The mayor wants to say a few words to the penguin.

Even though we moved from St. Stephen's Green to the Tied House, it's a bit too loud for me to comprehend the mayor (as he's such an affable and soft-spoken person), especially as (in contrast to yours truely) he speaks in a style with minimal redundancy.

I can't understand half of it, so I'm sure at least half of the sentences I'm uttering are non-sequiturs, which makes me sound like I'm wearing glasses. I'm sure by this time he thinks I'm a Hellcat puppet with an altered voice.

BTW, Peepers has got some very nice glasses. Somehow, she must prefer herself without them, though, and we failed to capture her on a picture with the glasses on.

It's warm in California, but the mayor is prodding his hearth, claiming that he doesn't like places without seasons (that surely must include Belgium, which has wheather akin to that of Seattle: never cold, always raining).

I really look dumb, and Peepers and Xu-Xu...

...are giggling their heads off. I can't react as I've got a hard time concentrating on not losing a single word the mayor is uttering.

Both claim, of course, it has nothing to do with me. Sure.

First off, I am way too bodacious to be a puppet.

The splendid hair (which helped me spot the two ladies early in the evening -- hard to miss from a mile away) just fails to occlude a charming and ever-present smile.

Either the mayor is buttering up Xu-Xu, or she has a knack for retaining an Olympian calm and staying charming in the face of adversity.

BTW, it's not clear if you meant "Xu-Xu's" in "Xu-Xu's underwear" as a genitive (denoting origin) or as a possessive (denoting possession). There *is* a difference. Really.

Glad y'all enjoyed them, I had a great time meeting 6er and hanging out with Peepers. 6er was much fun to talk to and does not use footnotes (or a dictionary) in person. Peepers and I were mostly giggling because I caught Peeps shaking my camera in frustration and exclaimed "Hey, it's not an Etch-A-Sketch".
