No heat is applied until the water from the resivour gets ito the heating tube in the base. It is heated until it produces steam which pushes it up through the feed to the basket. A check valve in the feed from the tank prevents liquid from flowing back into it.

The only herbs that receive any hot liquid are in the coloration basket.

He gets colored liquid. "Quote the raven, nothing more."

Ah yes the hand carved crystal sieve and glass. Wow pierre you have one? Do you have an problem with the sugar sitting on the botom? Artificial coloring will create a more vibrant color. The more traditional, and in my oppinion, better absinthes are colored naturally, which at the time of Absinthe's heyday: clorophyl was probably the brightest food grade coloring in drinks at the time. Either way the louche is fascinating to watch. Even in the absinthe's that contain only green anise.

The Absinthe Buyers Guide is looking for two or three volunteers to be forum Moderators. Moderators should have a working knowledge of absinthe, good writing and communication skills, a good sense for fairness, and a strong backbone.

A Moderator will have the ability to Edit and Delete post. Hopefully, you will not need to perform either, yet, as we all know, the world is not perfect.

Here are some things a candidate for Moderator should consider before volunteering:

You should be an Intermediate Member with at least 100 Post.

You can check on the forum once or twice a week.

You are willing answer question about absinthe without recommending or promoting any one absinthe.

Here are some reason to Edit or Delete a users post:

If someone is posting just to hi-jack the forum or a topic, with no regards for the topic and others.

If someone is talking about lighting farts, well! Probably not a place for children!

If someone tries to sell bootleg absinthe.

If someone is posting just to advertise their company.

If someone is running this forum down, just to be negative and ugly.

In other words, if someone is posting just to be malicious, nasty and a jerk, well! We don't want them hanging around anyway.

And of course, if someone makes a mistake and you ask them nicely to reframe from an activity that is not appropriate for the forum, and they respect your request, then it is all cool.

Some time ago there was a personal feud between Winston and the webmaster at feeverte.net, and some long-time posters there are still sore about it.

The reality is that both forums have knowledgeable posters (some post both places), and both have their share of absinthe newbies who post questions that the old-timers are tired of reading (Read the FAQ before asking questions folks!). If you're not part of this feud, my advice is to stay out of it.

This is just a reminder that the person posting as "winston_abg" at the "absinthe2" and the "absinthe-lovers" Yahoo chat rooms IS NOT Winston from the Absinthe Buyers Guide. Any claims made by "winston_abg" regarding the Absinthe Buyers Guide are false.

If anyone here post on those chat rooms, please post a note there telling other users that "winston_abg" is not Winston from the Absinthe Buyers Guide. You can refer them to this post for proof.
