Figured Id start a new thread for this.
I'm able to host a DC area get together to coincide with the LCLF, date would be Saturday April 17th, at my place in Alexandria VA. We will have dinner, drinking, pool playing and perhaps a conference call to LCLF.
I can PM directions etc.. to those confirmed, so far from the other thread I’ve seen SheepProf, Lambchop (my wife is going to love your handle), Me and my wife Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe, and 2Ly.
Please post if your intrested and/or can make it. Im looking forward to meeting some of you nut jobs...I mean folks.
No, not that kind of Nut Job

I'm still game to host this shindig. Night of April 17th food and games provided by Casa De Snake.
Unfortunatly thanks to Uncle Sams deep reach in to my wallet for taxes this year I do not expect to be able to provide any quality absinthe for the festivites. My liquor cabnet (such as it is) will be open for all who wish for mixing, or non absinthe drinkers, like my wife Jade- the only REAL Burnt™ absinthe.
I would expect to start around 4PM, I will plan on grilling something to fill our stomachs before the drinking begins in earnest.

Mar 18 2004, 07:43 AM
I will be there with the sheepprofessor in tow. We can bring along some absinthe, though we have lots and lots of bottles with not so very much in each of them. I'll try to shrink it down into sampler bottles and bring as much as I can.
I'm looking forward to it.
Who else is coming?

Only other responses I have gotten were 2ly, and possibly blackjack above.

I will if I can, but don't count on it, seeing as at that time, the Mrs. will be due to pop out a baby at any time.
I can just hear my side of the call now:
.. cell phone rings...
Me (to all of you): Shut up for a minute, my wife is calling!
.. answering the phone
Me (to my wife):
Hi.
Uh huh.
Now?
Um, I can't really drive right now.
I know that, dear.
No, I really can't drive, and make it in one piece.
Yes, I did hear you say your water had broken.
But they have some spectacular HG's, and I saw our first child get born last time.
Umm, yeah, that was a joke, because of course I wasn't implying I'd miss this.
Yes, dear.
Yes, dear.
Yes, dear.
Yes, dear.
... hangs up the phone.
Me: (to all of you): Somebody call me a taxi, so I can get my drunk ass to the hospital!

Mar 18 2004, 09:46 AM
I had to take my wife to the hospital right after the third strong glass of HG the other night, so you hit the spot with that one.
Congrats on the child!

Don't ever sweat the absinthe angle of
any Louche Fest.
Like in here, it's only the pretext for the
shindig.
When the Paddock Pals visited, we drank
exactly zero absinthes. Guess what? It
didn't matter in the least.

Birthin' babies should prolly take precedence though.
Yes?
Hey, maybe we could come to you in the hospital!
I bet your wife would love that.

Not to mention, most likely it will end up as a C-section.
No hard feelings, but none of you drunk fucks are getting near my wife's parts with a knife.
lambchop
Mar 18 2004, 11:20 AM
In general, I'd say that that's a pretty good policy.
Masque
Mar 18 2004, 11:59 AM
When my wife had a C-section, they would not even let me watch. There was a husband who passed out while watching, hit his head on one of the sinks and got skull shards into his brain. He almost died... they do not let fathers watch anymore.
But it was cool, as then I got to see the boy same time as my wife. It seemed unfair to see him before her anyway.
Justin
Mar 18 2004, 12:35 PM
I watched the first time. They were careful about where I sat and had it arranged so the angle kept me from seeing the really gory parts.
The crowbar-looking thingies were kinda bizarre.
I actually saw them pull the baby out before my wife, then helped them with the clean-up of the baby while they were counting gauze pads and sewing my wife up. I also got to hold my daughter first.
But once she started bonding with the boobies, my special moment of bonding was done. The next one will probably be when she finds out that daddy has credit cards.

Mar 18 2004, 01:02 PM
Ummm....
Can we stop talking about C-sections now?
Justin
Mar 18 2004, 01:08 PM
We'd talk about it in the Ladies' Forum, but we aren't ladies.
Be happy we aren't mentioning or discussing episiotomies.
Oh wait, I just did....

Indeed I do. At this point, it looks like I can make it to the 4/17 event. I'll know better as the date draws nearer. In the event that I can participate, I'll bring along something tasty.

Mar 18 2004, 07:19 PM
If I can attend, I too, will bring tasty beverages.
I blame Zouave. He ruined me forever with my first taste of HG.
Ever since then, my wallet has cursed him, but my tastebuds have been giving thanks.

Congrats on the newest additions to the family, Spuck!
Your niece deserves a medal.
Justin
Mar 18 2004, 07:46 PM
That is pretty amazing. But I'm glad I just have one on the way. If I was the dad to quads, I wouldn't have time for diapers. I'd just line them up and use a hose every few hours. Babies are incredible little pooping machines.

There is a thread over at LFV about foods that go well with Absinthe, with that idea in mind Id like to offer up a few menu type selections for people to weigh in on.
(I hope no one coming is vegetarian)
Beef Brisquet BBQ Texas style would be my first choice, but likely to be heavy.
Spaghetti with meat sauce
Good ol burgers and dogs on the grill
Chicken Fajitas
Any other suggestions welcome.

The talk of BBQ brisket forced me to make one on Saturday.
I must say, I’m a decent cook.
I'll plan on making another one on the 17th. If I start it early enough in the morning it should be ready by 4 or 5 PM.
