As I was bidding on a box of cigars at another site, I was wondering who of the real live women in here smoke. And what do you smoke, and when?

Cigars?
Cigarettes?
Tipperillos?

Come on fess up, girlies.

I quit smokin' cigarettes two years ago, and learned how to drive. I don't know which feat I'm prouder of.

But before that I smoked for *cough* twenty years *cough cough*... but it was hard in California as it's so demonized and expensive here.

Here's what I smoked:

1982 Salem Menthol (didn't last long, these were my mom's that I stole)
1982-83 Marlboro 100's
1983-86 Djarum Cloves
1986-93 Saratogas
1993-96 Export A Extra Lights
1996-98 Camel Lights (couldn't afford the fancy stuff while I was in NOLA)
1998-99 Export A Extra Lights
1999-2001 American Spirits Light

Never smoked and never will.

Cigarettes and cigars just stink to me. I actually like the smell of pipe smoke,* but not enough to seriously consider starting that habit.

* If anyone can enlighten me on why smoking a pipe smells so much different, please do so.

The way the tobacco is processed. Proper tobacco is matured in pressed cakes to release the complex sugars (not to mention the various curing methods and flavours of nicotinia tabacum -- pipe tobacco has been around for much longer than cigarettes, isn't largely a spawn of the multinational devil, and it shows).

Pipe tobacco isn't the only tobacco (safe for cigars, which are different) because it's be impossible to make cigarettes out of it (it doesn't burn as rapidly), and because there's no way to include crap in the product and not notice it.

Cigarettes == Filterated Czeckerland Xit.
Pipe tobacco == absinthe.

It's not a coincidence Southfarthings' Logbottom Leaf is pipe tobacco ;).

In case my insurance company is listening: I'd have to point out I *don't* smoke. But that doesn't mean I undergo passive smoking of cigars, pipe tobacco and cigarettes the same way.

Smoker, here.

When I was a wee tot, my aunt and uncle would come to visit and they smoked. My blanket would get that smoke smell in it and I called it "the cookie smell." My father would have to literally pry my blanket away from me to wash it because I knew the smell would go away after that.

No intention of quitting. Quit once for 51 hours. My non-smoking friends decided it was best I start up again.

Yes, I know it's a filthy habit. Yes, I know it will probably kill me. But the only thing I regret about that is that I won't live to smoke longer.

But, having said all that, I am not your typical smoker. I don't smoke around kids. I'm always careful to keep my cigarette pointed away from the non-smokers because that even bothers me when other smokers do that. In fact, I usually try to go off on my own somewhere to get in a cigarette. As a general rule, I'm usually ouside when I'm smoking anyway. And I never, ever, dispose of my cigarettes out my car window or on the ground.

I love the smell of pipe smoke, but I don't smoke 'em.

I don't particularly enjoy the smell of cigars, but I smoke 'em on special occasions.
Xu-Xu
I have only ever been a part-time smoker at best. First experience was smoking cloves in the 80's smoke_black.gif (he looks like an 80's clove smoker).

Have smoked: cloves, ciggys, reefer. Tried cigars but I prefer to just smell them (at least some of them, some smell nasty).
No crack or PCP as of yet.

I like to occasionaly puff while drinking.

My boyfriend occasionally smokes menthols but I love him anyways.
faustus
Thank you, Sixer!

I still have three Mircham pipes, although I don't smoke any more. I also used to smoke Sher Bidi cigaretts, among other things.
Fluffy G
I started smoking cigars when I was 15. Everything from crappy short cuts to cubans.
Then I started smoking cigarettes when I was 17. Camel lights was my staple, but I also liked the occasional off brand, and flavored smoke. I finally quite smoking when I was 21.
Although lately I've been thinking about getting a churchwarden style pipe. Ona cause pipe tobacco smells so freakin great.
Sponge Bob
I used to smoke cigarettes but quit in my late 20s.

My wife loved them almost more than life itself. She smoked those things till about four months before she died.

I can't say if the smoking had anything to do with her cancer, but I honestly believe it took away strength she needed for her chemotherapy.

I'll occasionally smoke a cigar, but I don't do tobacco in any serious way.
Nolamour
I'd give anything for a FUCKING MARLBORO RED!!

I just can't start again...that was harder to stop than anything...

On special occasions, I'll have a cigar.

My favorites: 5 x 50 Robustos

Zino (by Davidoff)
Monte Christo
Nat Sherman - for all you New Yorkers.
Romeo Y Julietta

And a couple I miss that aren't produced any more:

Just imagine ouchy w/2 slits and you'll have a pretty good idea.

I smoke.
I started smoking when I was 11.
I quit for three years in my mid twenties.
Then I started again.
And now I smoke.
Lucky Strike Lights.

I smoke Nat Sherman's. About 2 packs a week. I prefer Nat Sherman's "Touch of Clove," but will also smoke the "MCD's." Occasionally, I smoke Cloves or Cigars.

I am a big smoker when I drink, so it's good to see there will be a smoking section (outside?) at LCLF.
Rimbaud
I smoked for about 6 months when my ex and I broke up. Nat Sherman's MCD's were my poison of choice. Then I met my current GF, and she persuaded me to stop, which I'm thankful for. Occasionally, I'll still have a smoke while drinking.
Off. Jack Batemaster
How much does a pack of those run you, in NYC?
Rimbaud
When I was smoking, which was about 3 years ago, they cost 50-75¢ more than regular cigarettes (ie: Marlboro).
lambchop
You can get Nat's for $8.
The same price you pay for...say...Camel Lights.
Go figure.

Times, they have'a changed.

Someone asked me if I smoked after having sex.

I said, "I don't know, I never looked."

I've never been a real smoker. If I'm at a bar and drinking with friends who are smokers (most of mine are), and one is offered, I smoke it. Drinking and smoking just seem to go together, post-6-1069831687.gif . That is cigarette's. Cigars are a bit different.

I've smoked the occassional cigar since I was 18. I never wasted my time on the cheapies they sell at gas stations or whatnot. I started with Punch, Monticristo and Arturo. Then, I made the 'mistake' of buying a Cuban. It's kind of like drinking commercial for 3 years, and then having one glass of HG. You never want to go back, and I haven't. Since my first cuban cigar 5-6 years ago, I haven't smoked a non-Cuban since. Yes, they are THAT much better. I don't give a shit what anyone tells me about 'it's made from cuban seed, with a cuban wrapper' or 'the guy left cuba and makes them the exact same way, just in Nicaragua/florida/san juan/whatever'. They do NOT taste the same, and they sure as hell don't smoke the same. The draw is vastly superior, the taste, the aroma, the tongue-feel, the buzz. All different, and all better.

Now, whenever I am overseas, or in CanuckyFuckyLand and want to get ripped off, I smoke them. I have also done the wrapper-switch more then once. My personal favorite by far is the Cohiba Robusto; nice dark brown oily wrapper, superior draw, superb taste. Plus, the size is just right for a good, satifying, 30 minute smoke, without it being so frigging huge it takes you forever to get through. Nothing pisses me off more then a cigar that takes so long to smoke, you get impatient and start thinking 'come on, come on!' towards the end (except a cigar that is gone in 5 minutes maybe).

I prefer to smoke them with a glass of Remy Martin XO, or a very good bourbon. I have also found that Jose Cuervo Tradicional 208 (only found it in Mexico, but if anyone knows of it in the States, lemme know!) is great with a good cigar.

I hate cigarettes and nasty cigarette smoke, though a long time ago I enjoyed Drum tobacco (rolled my own).

A good cigar is very nice however and Cubans are certainly the best. I got some from a friend that went to Cuba and Lars is right, they go well with a fine bourbon.

Yes, I am agreeing with Lars here. Though we disagree on politics (He being a right-leaning libertarian smut perveyor) he demonstrates good taste.

My best friend's mother in High School, who was a junkie ho, gave us Sherman's soaked in PCP. Her and the rest of the junkie ho's called them "Sherms" and she thought we oughta at least try it, at least once.

Gaaaaaaaaaah! That was the worst thing I ever done did. NASTIEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Oh, and I just wanna say, that if it weren't for Head P. I prolly woulda fallen off the wagon with the ciggies. I'm sure of it, really.

It makes a HUGE difference when you've got someone motivatin' you.
Off. Jack Batemaster
You can use Nat Sherman's, of course, but I believe they are referred to as Sherm's is because a normal (white colored) cigarette when soaked in Wet (usually PCP, embalming fluid, and other chemicals) it will turn the cigarette a brown color, which looks like a Nat Sherman cigarette. Don't ask me how I know this.
DGLeadbetter
While we're discussing cigars, I agree that Cubans are awesome .... the best? Hmmm... I don't think so. Are some Cuban better than others? Sure. Are some Cubans better than Dominicans? Sure, but it can go the other way around too. For example ... I prefer the Don Carlos over any Cuban H. Upmann. Then again, I love a good R&J Churchill over a Don Carlos, and I prefer the Hemingway series over all of them.

The best cigar I've ever had was a PARTAGAS 150 (the real ones...not the knock offs that some bastards try to hock). Much better than the Cubans I've had.

Last I checked, the real 150's were going for about $45 a stick.

Nola, I LOVE the 150's! I have 3 left in my humi from 1996. You looking for some? I got a connection down here for about $20-22 a stick. I might be able to swing a box of robustos for about $500.

Let me know.

smoke_black.gif I don't know what you're talking about.

However, I can get you some REAL Queban Cigs, personally rolled by Castrol himself! Really, these are the real deal limited production .... they go for $120 per cigar, but man of man, they've got 100000% more nick-o-teen than regular cigars.
