PAPA Hemingway in key west by James McLendon.
It is the only thing I bought in the Keys last week, other than drinks and dinner.
I'm a cheap fucker.

Yes, and the bike engine shut down again while I was on the way home (in the rain, it was cold).
I think the ignition switch is bad. Third one in five years.

Thanks Glassie.
Sorry to dissapoint you and others. I'd really like to make it some time. Just too much to get done on the house this year. We might be selling it next year and I need to glaze windows, strip prime and paint the sashes and underhangs.
It will be fun on a 22' ladder.

While I was down there, I made a point to have 5 beers at Sloppy Joe's. I also made a point to be belligerant (fix it, penguin).
I love Hemmingway (the daughter is hot too) BECAUSE so many people don't.

Yeah, it doesn't take that long to glaze a window. Does it Glassy?
Le Gimp
Jun 15 2004, 12:10 PM
One window, maybe not. But, there are something like 20 windows with two panes each in my house. That's a lot of glazing. Not to mention the occasional one I break and have to replace (9.99 plus tax each 32" X 16" plate of glass). I just hope I don't slice myself wide open on one of them that I break.
I also need to chip, prime and paint all the trim and windows.
Final project will be fixing the porches. Concrete slabs are cracked and need some work.
Next house, I'm picking.

Jun 15 2004, 12:13 PM
Just have a louchefest at your house and tell everyone that they can't drink any absinthe until the windows are glazed, the window sills are chipped, primed and painted and the porch is fixed. That should save some time.

Next up is The Lovely Bones, then probably The End of Alice.

Just started reading "Forces of Habit, drugs and the making of the modern world".
It's a study of how "psychoactive goods" affected the development of the world and how they were used by some societies to control less affluent ones.
Seems interesting so far.
I'll report back when I get to any absinthe references.

I've got five in the hopper. Most have titles like "An Introduction to Modeling Outcomes in the Behavioral and Social Sciences." Then there's Roddy Doyle's Barrytown Trilogy. The Mayor forced it on me when I was leaving Atown. Now it's keeping me sane.
