It's good storytelling and the language is lovely. I recommend it if you like the occasional well-told story that doesn't beat the reader about the head and chest with implicit content. I do.

So do I,
I've added it to the "to buy" list.
Thanks Kid.

As for writers that use regional accents in their writing styles,
one of my favorites is James Kelman. In most of his writings he uses Scottish dialect, it is wonderful to read, and he writes great stories (novels and shorts).

And a good read of his making would be?

"How Late it Was, How Late"
is amazing, probably his best, a drunk beaten into blindness relearns his life.
"The Good Times" and "Busted Scotch"
are two good short story compilations, the former is the better of the two.

Not as disturbing as I thought it would be.
Maybe I am sensitized to violence at this point in my life.....

They're well trained. They arrived last night. Unfortunately, leisure reading is a bit too much to ask these days. At least I'll be prepared when the opportunity arises.

The monkeys seem to be beligerent by the time they get to me. They forget to leave notices that they were ever here.
I'm currently reading HucleberryFinn and A Brief History of the Carribean.

I am, without shame, reading Brain Damage by George Carlin. He makes me laugh.
I just read a facinating tome entitled The History of Landmines. It was a great read...

I just picked up America (The Book) at the store on my lunch break.
I've managed to flip through it a bit for an initial peek.
I stopped after I ran across the naked pictures of the Supreme Court Justices.
I can't wait to get home and curl up with this one tonight.

Then I started comprehending the language.
Now I'm enjoying it.

Glad you like it.
I found reading it out loud
helped me to grasp the language quicker.
Plus it allowed the other people

It's a great read.
The chapter on the media is the best.
Plus, it has fun activities, like match the anchorperson's face to his or her hair.
