I'm sure many got the latest email from SC.
Here's the new thing:
"This web we are presenting you a new product: the
SAGE LIQUEUR from SINC, that we have received this very morning.
"The sage liqueur from Sinc distilleries in Alcoy, Alicante, is a very unique product. Sage is known for its medicinal properties for centuries, and sage grows wild in the mountains surrounding Alcoy, where this licqueur has been made for decades.
"Sage is a plant related to wormwood, and in fact it has an even higher THUJONE!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING!!!!-this stuff has nothing to do w/the buzz from absinthe, NOTHING! level than absinthe. This liqueur, very mild thanks to its 18% vol. Alc., is extremely aromatic, you have the feeling you are right in the Mediterranean woods enjoying life. The extreme bitterness of sage can only be mildered by adding sugar. The resulting taste is very pleasant, with a very long aftertaste. It is drunk normally straight, cold but not chilled. Federico recommends not to drink more than 4 shots, the sage is quite active."
Sounds

to me.
Edited to add link

No surprise.
Another recent Thujon bandwagoner is www.Brewhaus.com, who is a large American homebrew/home-distiller supplier. They're going to be selling their own special Absinthe Essence and Absinthe spoons. It's Thujon-Mania!!!!!!

I guess the mandrake stuff wasn't selling too hot so they had to add this sage
concoction to the list! Why don't they concentrate on getting better quality
commercial absinthe instead of degrading themselves by selling crap like this? I would think that they would have better luck expanding their absinthe selection the going out on a limb with 'new' items!
O well.....

Gotta remember though, to FSC absinthe is only a small part of what they sell. It will do them better to expand their product line no matter what it is. I imagine absinthe is more of a niche market.
Of course, this sounds nasty, but you know, whatever floats your boat.

It doesn't bother me at all that they sell it. What I find disappointing is the manner in which they are advertising it.

Yes, it is. And, sadly enough, "business" these days seems to necessarily imply that you've sold your soul to Satan.

I suspect that there is a significant segment of the market that is driven by the 'Unique' aspect which they are pushing. Czeckerland Filterated Czeckerland Xit sells and appearantly sells well despite what we consider to be it's detracters (it tastes like ass and sucke in general). It will especially sell well if some celeb goes on the news to admit that they were drinking it when they were involved in whatever got them in the spotlight. As long as they stay away from Garlic Filterated Czeckerland Xit, the Goth segment of the market will probably buy it.
I'm holding out for the Celantro Filterated Czeckerland Xit to go with my Mexican food.

I tried their mandrake liqueur. It was quite unusual but not at all bad. Clearly a craft made product. However, the unusual flavors should ensure that it does not become a best seller.

Of course, if they let us know what those things are,
we would be unable to retain our joyous wonderment
at their might and ultimate benevolence
and the marvelous and poetic order of the forums.
Ask not what your Admin can do for you...
